ii)            Selection of main ideas

iii)           To compress several words into one word or phrase

iv)           Avoiding direct speech

v)            Avoiding personal opinion

Ans. The first skill is generalizing this means the selection of a general word or phrase for a long ling list of words. An example is “Oranges, bananas, apples, grapes”. All these can come under the general word ‘fruit’.
